Fatima pilgrimage, 25 April 2011
The origin of the Rosary of Crucifixion is connected with a pilgrimage to Fatima on 25 April 2011. During this pilgrimage, Rev Sr Mary Ursula Osinakachi Igbokwe encountered the call in the Chapel of the House of Our Lady of Sorrows Sanctuary.
“My daughter, I want to send you on a mission.”
The mission was given in direct and simple words:
“I want you to propagate My suffering in the form of a Rosary.”
The prayer entrusted for the devotion was:
“Jesus, You went to Calvary for me, have mercy on me and save the whole world.”
Delay and renewed call
After the first instruction, there was a delay. The call returned with renewed urgency through later dates remembered in the history of the devotion: 11 November 2021, 12 December 2021, and 04 January 2022.
In March 2022, the renewed instruction led to concrete steps for the production of the Rosary of Crucifixion and the wider propagation of the devotion.
Production and early support
The production of the Rosary of Crucifixion was supported by Sr Chidera, Madonna Nwaohiri, and Leona Nneka Abegunde. Parish priest guidance also helped shape the first steps of sharing the devotion with clarity and faithfulness.
Friday prayer group
The Zoom prayer group began on Friday 17 June 2022 with 12 members. The Friday prayer meetings continue as a simple, faithful gathering of prayer, meditation, and devotion to the sufferings and crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
